What was a family,
living underneath it’s roof
and slowly wearing the frame
until it became a part of them
engraving each plank
with pacing steps of grievance

What was a family,
each rupture in the­ wall
much like the empty gazes
filling each room
as the petals on the paper
dwindle with the bodies within

What was a family,
plastered over by unknowing hands
the underneath menacing;
the surface calm

What was a family,
now occupying the walls
